Uobie, who has been spending a holiday at Otaki Beach and Palmerston North, has returned to Nukumaru. Miss M. Armstrong is spending tile school holidays at Auckland and Hu, a. Mr. and Mrs. J. Laird have returned from Auckland. Mks Johansen, Palmerston North, spent the week-end with her sister, Mrs. W. Dobie, Nukumaru. Mr. and Mrs. Fitzgerald and Misses Jean and Ngacre Fitzgerald motored to Taihape. Airs. Bublitz, Stratford, is the guest of Alrr. A. Hurley. Miss G. Fitzgerald Is visiting Weilington. _ PERSONAL On the eve of the departure from Marion of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. loote and family, Bev. Father Hanratty made eulogistic reference to the valuable services rendered in St, Francis' parish by this- family for the past 19 years, and their loss will be keenly felt in the parisii. As choirmaster Mr. Foote has attained a standard of ethciency seldom equalled in bigger pai ishes, the Marton choir being cwuniented on most favourably by visiting artists. The choir members Slowed their appreciation of his efforts in presenting him with a beautiful oak fireside chair and a silver-mounted baton suitably inscribed and wished him anc nis family all the best in like in their new home at Cross Creek, to which place he has been transferred on promotion.
