MELROSE INJURED

A FORCED LANDING ’PLANE STRIKES STUMP [By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright] Received Dec. 3, 11.5 p.m. SYDNEY, Dec. 3. The aviator, James Melrose, while flying from Melbourne to Sydney, experienced bad weather to-day and was forced to land in a paddock at Penrose, 106 miles south of Sydney. The machine struck a stump and was upended, ;h« engine burying its nose in the earth, and a wing was smashed. Melrose was rather seriously injured. Railwaymen employed on the permanent way witnessed the accident. They rushed to the spot and rendered first aid. Melrose was conveyed 23 miles to the Bowral Hospit-al. Melross was semi-conscious when lifted from r lio ’plane. His face and head were cut but apparently no bones were broken. It is now reported that his injuries are not serious and he should make a speedy recovery. The aeropla'ne was wrei/ed.
