RANGIWAEA REPORT The usual monthly meeting of th<Rangiwaea Women’s Institute was held m the local hall on Tuesday, November 19. Mrs. Speedy presided. The meeting opened with the “Ode to Friendship’’ and the “Aspirations.” The president then welcomed members »nd also several visitors from Hihitahi. The following motto for the afternoon was read by Mrs. D. Bell: “Cheerful people resist disease better than glum ones; the surly bird catches the germ.” After business had been dealt with Mrs. W. Garmons way read an interesting report of the council meeting recently held in Taihape. A hearty vote ot thanks was accorded her. The demonstrator for the afternoon was Mrs. D. H. Newton, of Hihitahi, who gave a demonstration on posy and bouquet making. Members watched this with great interest, and on Mrs. W. Bell’s motion a hearty vote of thanks was accorded the demonstrator. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs. W. G. Garmonsway and Miss Goodall. During the social half-hour members were entertained by Mrs. Speedy and Mrs. Donovan in an amusing dialogue, ♦‘Mrs. Moloney’s Visit to the Doctor.” All present then took part in a game, “musical potatoes.” Results of the competitions were as follow:—Senior: Best sponge roll, Mrs. D. Bell and Mrs. W. Garmonsway 1, Mrs. Donovan 2, Airs. W. Bell 3. Junior: Best worked apron, Miss A. Bayne 1, Miss Hagan 2, Miss N. Spooner 3. The December meeting will be held on the 12th, owing to the schools closing the following week. The competitions will be “best Christmas present not costing more than one shilling,” for seniors and juniors. The singing of the National Anthem brought an enjoyable afternoon to a close.
