The Australian crcket team opened a two-day match to-day against a Maharashtra team at Poona, playing for the first time on a turf wicket, which was slightly damp. Ryder won the toss and sent in the home side. Maharashtra, in their first innings, made 20*5 M. Naiudu 124). Naidu hit thirteen fours and two sixes in a dashing display of batting. Nagel toow seven wickets for 43, and Oxenham two for 62. The Australians had made 102 for no wickets at stumps (Hendry 62, Wendel Bill 40)
