THE STRIKE DECISION. MEN TO MEET SECRETARY FOR MINES. [ British Official Wireless. ] Received Nov. 28, 5.15 p.m. RUGBY, Nov. 27. The full executive of the Mineworkers’ Federation of Britain will meet the Secretary for Mines at the first of a series of negotiations with the Government following last week’s ballot of the coalfields, when 93 per cent, of the workers declared to support the executive by a strike if necessary in enforcing a claim to 2s per shift increase in wages. The negotiations also include efforts to control wages by a national agreement and co-operative selling, and schemes will be discussed. Hitherto the miners’ leaders have expressed the view that the benefits from such schemes would involve too long a delay. The negotiations probably will be continued over several days. NEGOTIATIONS PROCEEDING Received Nov. 28, 10.20 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 27. The Secretary of Mines was in. conference to-day with both the executive of the Mineworkers’ Federation and representatives of the mineowners, in connection, with the claim by the miners for a wages increase. It was announced after the first meeting that the Secretary for Mines, after meeting the owners, would report to the Government and would later meet the men’s representatives again. The second meeting with the owners was adjourned after nearly two hours’ discussion, until to-morrow..
