BOWLING Patea bowlers were successful against Hawera Park No. 2 in a South Taranaki banner match played at Patea on Saturday. The greens were in good order, although slightly heavy after the revent rain. Following are the results, Patea bowlers being mentioned first:—• Lamb, Parsons, Scown, White 27 v. CRICKET By a coincidence that was- remarked upon, the Patea second eleven were defeated by Hawera by just one run more than the Patea firsts were defeated by Old Boys in South Taranaki competition matches last Saturday. The Patea seniors made 59-against Old Boys’ 120 for eight wickets, while the juniors made 58 against Hawera’s 120 runs. In’ the match at Patea between Hawera and Patea second elevens, Lobban. proved too much for the Patea batsmen, taking five of their wickets for only seven runs. AMATEUR ATHLETICS In order to get the local athletes into form for the annual sports meeting on Boxing Day, a start was made last Friday with the weekly runs by the Patea Amateur Athletic Club.
