GENERAL NEWS The elections are now the chief topic, here, Maoris polling to-day, and pakahas tomorrow. With five candidates in the field for to-morrow’s contest, votes will be somewhat split, but it is generally considered that the issue lies between tire sitting member, Mr. J. Linklater, and the Labour candidate, Mr. C. L. Hunter. In 1931 the issue was a straight-out one between the pair, the voting being as follows: —Linklater 4666; Hunter 2420; majority for Linklater. 2-246.
ON THE RANGE Weather conditions were fairly good fc-r shooting on Saturday, and members of the Rangitikei Defence Rifle Club put on the following scores:— 300 500 600 T’l. A.
