RANGITIKEI RUGBY The junior competition has been won by Halcombe with Ohingaiti runnersnp Next Saturday -will see the charity match played on the Marton Park between Halcombe and Mangaweka and a great tussle is in store. Each have victories against tho other on their j own grounds and now that tiny meet I on neutral ground there will be some speculation as to who will win. No date has vet been definitely fixed for the President’s Rose Bowl match between Mangaweka (Rangitikei champions) ami Pirates (Taihape champions) but it. will probably be on September 14. The AfcKee Cup match bej tween tho junior champion teams of Rangitikei and Taihape is tentatively down for Wednesday week. It will b© played at Afarton. N T o date can yet. be fixed for the Pownall Trophy match at Marton against Manganui and it would seem that the fixture will have to he abandoned. On account of the lateness of the season it will be difficult to get s truly representative side. Tho Management Committee nf the Rangitikei Rugby Union meets at tho Jockey Chib’s rooms on Thursday evening at 8 o’clock. JUNIOR QUEEN CARNIVAL The committed of Dawn Horgan, one of the entrants in the forthcoming Queen Carnival have*evcry reason to feel proud of the successful dance held at the Junction on Saturday night, the hall being crowded. A Monte Carlo waltz was wen by Hrs Horgan and Air Bryder. Thanks are due to Mr J Wilson, who rendered the dance music gratis, his efforts adding considerably to ihe success of the function.
