ROYAL SAWTARY INSTITUTE TARANAKI-WA/jGANUI SUBCENTRE. CONFERENCE YESTERDAY. Dlembers of the Royal Sanitary Institute of the Taranaki-Wanganui Sub centre, New Zealand branch, assembled in conference in Wanganui yesterday. Dr. F. S. Dfaclean, Medical Officer of Health, Wellington district, presided. The visitors were accorded a wcl come by the Mayor of Wanganui, Mr. W. J. Rogers, who stated that it was always a pleasure to welcome y isitors to our beautiful city, of which we were justifiably proud. The delegation was present to discus problems affecting the health of the people and to distribute information. He was certain that their discussions here would be helpful to the community generally. In the 'march of life we were Apt to imagine that all tkiw work in this respect was finished, that was not so, as much yet remained to be done in the matter of fighting diseases and making the community healthy. He recognised tho valuable services in this respect that had already been rendered by the institute. He sincerely trusted that the visit to the city would be a very’ helpful one and that the visitors would have a pleasant and profitable time in the exchange of their ideas in the interests of health. Dr. Maclean said that, he desired to thank the Mayor for his very cordial welcome and to thank the council for their hospitality in placing the pleasant and excellent room at the disposal of the institute for the meeting. The Taranaki-Wanganui branch had got going during the past 12 months and so far had shown it«elf one of the most energetic, and it was hoped that iti example woul-1 be followed by othci centres. It was hoped by this meeting to create a certain amount of local interest. Tho idea was to spread the information among the public in the interests of god health.
