RANGITIKEJ REFEREES ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual meeting of the Kaugitikei Referees’ Association was held at Marton last evening, Mr. W. B. Gibbons presiding over Messrs. R. Rivers, A. i'aulding, G. Thomson, D. Porteous, G. W. Brown, H. Chainey, N. Rix-lrcLt, K. Baker, AV. Cowdrey, A. U. Wimsett, S. McKenzie, D. westwood and J, Dickson (secretary). In briefly reporting on the activities of the last season the chairman said that the association had carried out its duties satisfactorily. Speaking of the future, he urged that the union should play junior matches on Saturday and presented arguments in support of this contention- In conclusion, lie intimated that he would not seek re-election and would not be available to take the whistle this season. The balance-sheet, which was adopted, showed that the year started with a credit balance of £1 18s 2d and concluded with a credit of £3 7s. Gibbons were elected life members. • Election of Officers Officers were elected as follow; — Patron, Mr. Lloyd Hammond; president Mr. G. Thomson; vice-president, Mr. K. Rivers; delegate to the Rugby Union, Mr. D. P. Portecus; delegate to appointment board,Messrs. J. Sullivan and D. P. Porteous to Stet with the president of the union; auditor, Mr. A. Way; secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. Dickson; delegate to Wanganui Appointment Board, Mr. J. Sullivan. Mr. A. Faulding was elected an active member. It was decided to affiliate with the New Zealand Referees’ Association. Mr. Cowdrey suggested that an interchange of referees be made at meetings of the various associations. “In-ter-change for matches,” said Mr. Cowdrey, “is all very well, but roundtable discussions with others will make for greater unifoiraity in rulings and for a higher standard of refereeing. The suggestion was adopted. Meetings are to be held regularly on the second Monday in every month.
