All the action in this film takes place on the famous trans continental train and it is a film without a hero. Actually the subject was thought of long before the present fashion began for films in one setting, like “Grand Hotel” and “Shanghai Express.” Joan Barry appears in “Rome Express” as a married woman who is having an affair with a married man, Harold Huth. Muriel Aked is a spinster who pesters Miss Barry on the Lain, and Gordon Harker is a friend who gets in Harold Huth’s way. Donald Culthrop is a crook fleeing from his associates, and the chief of these is Conrad Vcidt, the famous German actor. Cedric Hardwicke is a parsimonious Scotch millionaire and Esther Ralston is a lilt star on board the train. There is a murder on the train, and the dead body of the crook found in Harold Huth’s compartment causes no little inconvenience to his intrigue with Joan Barry. REGENT THEATRE The return of Vilma Banky to the screen is an event which thousands of theatres will be celebrating this month. It is with pleasure, that, the Regent Theatre announces her return in “the Rebel,” a dramatic story of love and war in lhe high Alps- There is no doubt that “The Rebel” is the forerunner of many more X ilma Banky productions. Already negotiations on the strength of her splendid work iu “The Rebel” are under way with two American producers. “lhe Rebel stars Luii? Trenker, who will be remembered always in this country for the splendid impression he made in “The Doomed Battalion,” mentioned by nearlv all reviewers last year as one of the best ten pictures. Victor Varconi, who was with Trenker in that production, is also with Trenker and Banky in “The Rebel,” which opens at (he Regent Theatre. “The Rebel ' strikes a high note of patriotism, sacri flee of love for duty and heroism against staggering odds.
