PALAIS DE DANSE
Ati predicted, dancing has enjoyed a fuli measure of popularity this winter and when, under the multi-coloured festoons of coloured lights, superlative music, contributed by the new Palais Dance Band, a combination of leading instrumentalists under the direction of Mr. I’red Stokes, idealistic weabher conditions, and due regard to every requirement of followers of the terpsichorean art, it is little to be wondered at that the Druids'Hall is always taxed to its limit when the Palais de Danse present their brilliant weekend function. A delightful supper was served in a number of sittings, and reflected credit upon those responsible for its dispensation. The principal event of all dance functions has long been the Monte Carlo waltz, and in keeping with this time-honoured custom all present engaged in the merry whirl to woo Dame Fortune's favour, and Miss Garth and Mr. Spencer, and Miss Threadgold and Mr. Jones, the lucky recipients, were heartily applauded by those less fortunate. Mr. Bert Gilroy, as usual, fulfilled the duties of M.C. in his inimit able manner, and brought a highly sue cessful function to a happy termination as the midnight hour was reached.
