CONSOLATION RACE WINNER | I MYSTERIOUS DISAPPEARANCE ’ Received Aug. 19, 6.10 p.m. 1 ; PARIS, Aug. 18. i Starting at long odds in a race re- : served for horses which had not pre- 1 viously won £125 in prize money, n mysterious horse named Hallencourt not only won easily, but broke the isting course record. The jockey took the horse straight to the exit. and stewards’ inquiries revealed that everyone connected with the horse had vanished after collc'eting £4OOO from the totalisator, Subsequently it was found that the trainer had placed Hellencourt in a van , bound for the south’of France and had sold it en rout. He had also sold it before its departure as part of a valuable stable. The horse and trainer cannot now be traced.
