BOUT AT NEW PLYMOUTH MEYER AND ALI BEY DRAW. ( Per Tress Association ] NEW PLYMOUTH, Aug. 19. Fred Meyer and Ali Boy wrestled a draw on Saturday night with one fall each. MATCH AT TAIHAPE LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE WIN FOE ANTON KOOLMAN. Anton Koolman (holder of the New Zealand light-heavyweight professional championship title met Arthur Stratton (middleweight champion of Australia) at Taihape in an eight-round match on Saturday evening for the lightweight title of New Zealand. The bout was full of interest. Stratton secured a fall in the fourth round, but Koolman evened in the seventh round, and threw Stratton so heavily that he was unable to continue. Koolman was announced the winner. BRIGHT BOLT ARRANGED ALI BEY AND FEED MEYER Ali Bey and Ur. Meyer, possibly the best matched pair of this year’s wrestling team, are to meet in the Opera House on Wednesday night. On appearanees the bout should prove to be one of the best contests promoted 'by the Wanganui Association. Bey was slow in striking his real form in New Zealand, the form that won him many contests in the States, ■where he was hailed as the successor to the original il Terrible Turk.” However, even in his early appearances, he impressed the watching critics with his knack in scenting the moment when his opponent was oil his balance. Dr. Meyer, one of the busy typo of wrestlers like Stanley Pinto but Jess blatant in his mannerisms, has performed very consistently. He has given excellent exhibitions, particularly against Walker, and should have a shade the better chance on Wednesday. The contest, with two colourful men in action, should be bright enough. George Bennett, of Wellington, who is popular with local enthusiasts, will be the third man in the ling.
