The weather was wet early after heavy cver-night rain but cleared later in the afternoon. The track was heavy. .The attendance was good under the conditions and the totalisator investments amounted to £25,158, as against £32,343. The total for the meeting was £89,942. compared with £91,381 10s last year. Results:— AYLESBURY STEEPLECHASE. (Of £200; about miles.) 5/3—Night Club, 9.13, Beale 1 4/4 —Willow Glen, 9.3, Turner .... 2 2/1 —Snowy Dawn, 10.’3, Langford . 3 Also—l/2 Arcade, 5/6 Umtali. 7/7 TentcaH, 6/5 Royal Buck. Tentcall fell at the Kennels double the first round and Royal Buck led across the top from Willow Glen, Suowy Dawn, Night Club and Umtali. The order was the same paassing the stands. Umtali fell at th© first of the Kennels double. Royal Buck led to the last fence from Snowy Dawn and Willow Glen. Royal Buck fell at the last fence and Night Club won by four lengths from Willow Glen, with Snowy Dawn a similar distance away. Time, 5-32. LONGBEACH HANDICAP. (Of £l5O ; six furlongs.) 15/10 —Travenna, 8.3, Powell .... 1 10/13 —Elgindale, 8.0., Leckie .... 2 2/3 —Hunting Jay, 10.2, L. G. When the course proper was reached Travenna, Rebel Chief, Emissary, Square Acre, Bright Shade and Elgindale were the leaders. Travenna drew out in the run home and won by three lengths from Elgindale, with |Hunting Jay a similar distance away. Braw Lad was fourth. Time, 1.16 4-5. SYDENHAM HURDLES. (Of £3OO ; two miles.) 4/4—ROYAL LINEAGE, .10.0, HDulieu 1 6/7—CARGEN, 9.7, Mcßae 2 5/3—ROYAL LIMOND, 9.3, O ’Connor 3 Also: 7/8 Hounslow, 2/2 Rasouli, 1/1 Pahu, 3/5 Invictus, 8/6 Blacksmith. Passing the stands Royal Lineage had charge from Invictus, Royal Limond. Blacksmith, Hounslow, Cargen, Rasouli and Pahu. Going along the back Royal Lineage was followed by Royal Limond, Invictus and Blacksmith. The leaders were the same rounding the far turn. Crossing the top Royal Lineage increased his lead from Royal Limond and these two were followed into the straight by Cargen, Blacksmith, Pahu and Rasouli. Royal Lineage won easily by eight lengths from Cargen, with Royal Limond a neck away and Rasouli fourth. Time, 3.54. STYX HURDLES. (Of £2OO ; 1% miles.) 3/3 —Chile, 9.1, Burgess ........ 1 6/6—Verden, 9.13, Turner 2 11/2 —Transact, 9.6, Trillo .. ...... 3 Also: 7/7 Gold Night, 5/5 Fleeting Glance, 4/4 Revision, 2/1 Sunwood, 8/8 Pleasant Memory, 9/9 Night ParadeSunward fell at the fence near the six furlongs. Transact lost his place through a bad jump at the far turn and Verden was well clear of the field crossing the top. Chile was Verden’s nearest attendant at tho last fence, with Night Parade and Transact next. Verden tired badly in tho run home and was beaten by three-quarters of a length by Chile, with Transact Rix lengths awav. Revision was fourth. Time, 3.25. HEATHCOTE HANDICAP. (Of £200; nine furlongs.) 8/9—ISWEET AGNES, 9.1, L. J. Ellis 1 1/I—MERCIAN PRINCE, 9.0, Broughton 2 5/4 —CLEANER, 8.0, Phillips .... 3 Also: 5/4 Southdown (bracketed with Cleaner), 6/7 Polydora, 10/12 Ranelagh, 2/5 Ventrac, 7/6 Tiger Gain, 3/2 Water Tower, 4/3 Prince Vai, 9/10 Chhota, 12/11 Lady Spy, 10/8 Silver Sight, 13/13 Palmary, 14/14 Beau Gcste. Beau Geste led out from Ventrac, Lady Spy, Tiger Gain, Mercian Prince and Cleaner. Rounding the far turn Ventrac led from Cleaner, followed by Lady Spy, Tiger Gain, Beau Geste, Mercian Prince, Chhota and Sweet Agnes- Ventrac and Cleaner were together crossing the top nnd led into the straight from Tiger Gain, Mercian Prince, Polydora, Sweet Agnes and Water Power. Mercian Prince led at the distance from Cleaner and Sweet Agnes, but the last-named finished strongly to beat Mercian Prince by half a length. Cleaner was two lengths away and Silver Sight fourth. Time, 2.1. LINCOLN STEEPLECHASE. (Of £350 ; about 3 miles.) 2/I—MEMBO, 9.13, Beale 1 1/2—THURINA, 11.6, Bowden .... 2 5/5 —PETERETTE, 9.0, Langford . 3 Also: 4/4 Billy Boy, 3/3 Valpeen, 6/6 Kapuna, 7/7 Umtali. Kapuna and Valpeen led over Cutts’ from Membo, Thurina, Umtali, Billy Boy and Peterette. Valpeen and Kapuna were together at the Kennels double and led past the stands from Thurina. Membo and Peterette. Thurina jumped to the front at. Cutts’ and was followed down the back by Kapuna (which fell at the first sod wall), Valpeen and Membo. Thurina was three lengths clear of Aalpeen and Membo at the Kennels but Valpeen fell heavily at the top sod wall. Membo ran up to Thurina ap preaching the top brush and led over the last fence, coming on to win by twelve lengths from Thurina- Peterette was ten lengths away and Billy Boy further back. Time, 6.11 3-5. REDCLIFFS HANDICAP. (Of £175; one mile.) 4/4—Calydon, 8.12, Broughton .... 1 11/12 —Osculate, 8.5. Dooley 2 14/13 —Nightfow” 8.5. Brodie .... 3

Windward led on to the course proper, with Passion Fruit, Tea Garden, Horowheuua, Colossian, Bed Dance, Haere Tonu and Osculate also showing up. In the run homo Calydon came from a rear position to beat Osculate by a neck. Nightform was three-quarters of a length away and Passion Fruit fourth. Time, 1.46 2-5. SELWYN HANDICAP. (Of £2OO ; seven furlongs.) 8/S—CRANFORD, 8.6, Kirwau .... 1 7/7 —MIGHT, 8.2, Humphries .... 2 1/2 —GUARANTEE, 8.6, Mackie ... 3 Also: 3/3 Mobile, 2/1 Slippery, 5/5 Palermo, 6/4 Haulbowline, 9/9 Dismiss, 4/6 Gay Court, 10/10 Lady Rene. Haulbowline led from Cranford, Dismiss, Palmero, Slippery and Guarantee into the straight but Cranford had charge at the distance from Palermo, Slippery, Might and Gay Court. Cranford stayed on and ■won by a length from Might, with Guarantee a neck away. Mobile was fourth. Time, 1.32 3-5. On a charge of interference with Horowhenua in the Redcliffs Handicap, A. E. Time, 1.431. Frinisel was second in the First Division of the Flying Handicap, in which Diatohwus was unplaced after being prominent most of the way. Cockpen was unplaced iu the Kogarah Stakes, and Cavalcade and Deep Respect unplaced in the Three--Year-Old Handicap. V.R.C. MEETING WIN FOR SIB SIMPEB. Received Aug. 19, 7.5 p.m. MELBOURNE, Aug. 19. The V.R.C. races at Flemington were held yesterday: Results:— Nerrin Nerrin Handicap.—Si Simper 7.2 (Wilson) 1, Count Orloff 8.5 (Perry) 2, Mystery Ship 6.12 (Murphy) 3. Fifteen started including Melisande (fourth) and Movie Star (fifth). Two and a-half lengths; one and a-quarter lengths. Time 2.9. The New Zeal lander won without trouble, bringing himself into prominence as a candidate for the Caulfield Cup. Apaehe fell in the August Steeples and Hunting Morn was unplaced in the Threc-Year-Old Handicap. Chief Light was second in the Highweight Handicap.
