COLD WEATHER
SNOW AT BLENHEIM THE TOWN BLANKETED ( Per Press Association ). BLENHEIM, July 3. The blizzard which has had the southern part of New Zealand in its grip during the last few days readier as far north as Blenheim during the night, and this morning snow was fall ing in the town for the first time since 1926, when there was a very light fall. To-day the town is blanketed in white, presenting a strange appearance. The weather is bitterly cold and the prospects are that the snow will continue. The Nelson and Picton roads are open, though the drivers of the early morning service cars had an unenviable experience on account of the slippery roads. The main south road is blocked near Ward by the swollen condition of the Mirza Stream, and are delayed there and may not get through to-day.
