MORE MARRIAGE
POSITION AT WANGANUI. HIGHEST TOR SEVEN YEARS. No fewer than 140 marriages hare t :ken place in Wanganui during the first six months of this year, which is the largest, number since 1927 for the nine perio l. During the January-June period of .1927, the number of marriages that took place in the city was 142. The following year the total dropped to 138, while in 1929 two loss were celebrated. In 1930 the total dropped to 127, and in 1931 to 92. An improvement was shown in 1932, when 109 licenses were issued, the total increasing to 116 last year. The total for the first six months'of this year are, therefore, comparable with 1927 and 1928. Vital statistics for the past month at Wanganui, with those of last year in narentheses, are:—Births 47 (35); deaths 24 (IS); marriages 22 (23); marriages in office 6 (4). The halfyearly figures are: Births 275 (285); deaths 135 (130); marriages, 140 (116); marriages in office 30 (24).
