VITAL MACHINERY
MINE PUMP DAMAGED. WRECKERS USE EXPLOSIVES SYDNEY, June 27. A deliberate attempt was made to blow up the machinery on which the new Greta Colliery, Newcastle district, depends for its supplies of water. The intruders visited the shed in which the pumping machinery is housed on the banks of the Hunter River, cut the belt used in the pumping process, and placed throe charges of explosives at vital points in the machinery. One shattered a motcr, another damaged the pump itself, and the third failed tc explode.
