BOYS NOT TO FLY SOLO
AIR MINISTRY’S ORDER. LONDON, June 26. An Air Ministry order forbids boys under 17 to fly solo in aeroplanes in B ritain. Gerald Royle, aged 16, believed to have been the youngest pilot in Britain, was killed on June 25 when his machine nose-dived, bursting into flames, at the .Scarborough Aero Club’s aerodrome at Heslerton, where he had been spending a holiday. He had been flying solo for two years and had been awarded an A certificate a few months ago.
