BYRD EXPEDITION
SUMMER EXPLORATION. LEAIDER ANNOUNCES PLANS. Received June 27. 7.20 p.m. MONTREAL, June 26. A radio from Little America states: From the Bolling base, Rear-Admiral Byrd to-day, by radio, announced the board outline of the programme for geographical exploration and scientific research, which the expedition will attempt during the spring and summer months. It generally follows the plan mapped out before the expedition left the United States, with several important alterations made necessary by the conditions found. One feature will be a long adventurous flight eastward over the glaciated tops of the Edsel Ford range and across the untravelled plateau which Rear-Admiral Byrd dimly saw during one of his J 929 flights, Meanwhile a land party, using dog teams and tractors, will visit Edsel Ford Land, while another will travel southward across the ice barrier to survey the Queen Maud mountain range.
