WEDDING

CRAN FIELD—JAME S. An Easter wedding was solemnised Christ Church, Wanganui, on Saturday evening, March 31, when Winifred Pricilla, sixth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. N. James, of Bell Street, Wanganui, was marired to Gordon, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Cranfield, “Hopelands,’’ Woodville. The beautiful Easter decorations in the church made a lovely floral setting for the wedding group. The Rev. C. Dobbs officiated. Entering the church with her father, who gave her away, the bride wore a becoming frock of ivory satin beaute and silk lace designed on slim-fitting lines to the knees and flared with godets of lace? The full puff sleeves were inset with lace panels. The silk net veil was arranged to the head with orange blossoms and she carried a bouquet of Madonna lilies and asters.

The three bridesmaids, the Misses Alice James (sister of the bride), Olwyn Cranfield (sister of the bridegroom), and Winnie Clarke wore dainty frocks of lavender georgette, frilled at the hem and finished at the waist with a diamante buckle. Their hats and shoes toned with their frocks, and they wore pink crystal necklaces and ear rings (the gift of the bridegroom). Miss Coral Troughton (niece of the bride) was flower girl, and wore an attractive frock of blue taffeta, hat and shoes to tone. All four maids carried bouquets of roses and asters with long pink streamers. The bridegroom’s gift to the flower girl was a gold bangle. Mr. D’Arcy Cranfield was best man and Mr. William Hambly and Mr. Albert James were the groomsmen. After the ceremony reception was held in the Victoria Hall, St. Hill Street, where about 120 guests were received by the bride’s mother, who wore a frock and coatee of navy blue satin, black hat, and held a bouquet of roses and asters.

The bridegroom’s mother. Mrs. Cranfield, was attired in floral georgette with hat to tone. She carried a bouquet of asters and roses. The happy couple left by car for the north, the bride wearing a blue crinkle crepe frock with cape collar, coat, hat and shoes to tone.
