AUCKLAND BENEFITS. I Per Press Association. I AUCKLAND, Dec. 21. Hard north-easterly squalls with heavy rain were experienced in Auckland last night and early this morning. The total rainfall up to 9 o’clock to-day was .98 inches. It is the first substantial fall there has been this month, and as it appears to have been fairly general in the province it will be beneficial. Some light rain has fallen this morning, but the barometer toward mid-day appeared to be steadier, and there is hope that, having got a muchneeded downpour of rain.
