In an interesting judgment the Court of Arbitration holds that employers are liable for compensation where employees are killed or injured by falling debris outside tho premises where they are employed while attempting to escape during an earthquake. The Court decided that a person was acting in the course of his employment in attempt ing to leave a threatened building. The Court to-day concluded a lengthy sitting in Napier during which it has heard a number of earthquake compensation claims brought following the Privy Council decision.
