MOTOR ACCIDENTS
LAW REGARDING NEGLIGENCE I’liOi’O.SED CHANGES OPPOSED [ Per Press Association. I WELLINGTON, Dec. 5. Changes in thc law regarding negligence in connection with motor accidents, recommended by thc Public Petitions Committee report presented in thc House of Representatives last month, are viewed with serious concern by the executive of thc Wellington Automobile Club. The monthly meeting decided to refer the question to the North Island Motor Union with a view to its taking urgent action in opposition to any alteration in the present law, and also seeking the co-operation of the South Island Union. The chairman, Mr. E. A. Batt, observed that the proposals would throw tho whole liability on the motorist, and none on thc pedestrian. The motorist might be responsible for only one per cent, negligence and yet would have to suffer tho whole responsibility of proving himself not guilty.
