SILVERHOPE WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
The July meeting of the Silver hope Institute was well attended, Mrs. Johnstone presided and welcomed all present. The meeting opened with the Ode and Creed and after the business Miss Meads, of Westmere, djmonstrated the alteration of commercial patterns to personal needs and the chief points to be observed when fittiig a frock. She also gave a helpful talk on how to choose one’s clothes an J the most suitable materials to use. She was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks for her interesting and insructive demonstration. An exhibition of old r»rt*des in the possession of members was on view. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Illston and Ellery, and Miss Aidworth, and the National Anthem closed a most interesting meeting. Next month the competition will be “six pieces of shortbread.” There will be a talk on gardening and also a plant exchange.
