Mr. and Mrs. J. Lyons, of Hastings, [have been staying in Wanganui. * * * * Mrs. A. T. Milner, Wellington, is visiting Wanganui, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. J. Perry, of Dunedin, were week-end visitors to Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Hetherington, of Thames, were in Wanganui during the week-end. Miss L. Bruce is a New Plymouth visitor to Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Macarthur, of Christchurch, were recent visitors to ■Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. G. T. Mason, of Wellington, were in Wanganui during the week-end. ¥ • • • Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Herrick and Miss H. Rerrick, were visitors to Wanganui from Hawkes Bay at the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Barton, of Wairarapa, were recent visitors to Wanganui. * # * * Visitors from Auckland at the week-end included Mr. and Mrs. W. Naismith, Mrs. E. B. Brown and Miss Stewart. Mrs. R. A. Tims was a Palmerston North visitor to this city, at the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Masters. New Plymouth, made a short stay in Wanganui at the week-end. ¥ * ¥ ♦ The Misses Lorna and Daphne Pritchard, of Ohingaiti, are spending a holiday in Taumarunui. ¥ * ¥ • Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Ashcroft, of Upper Aramoho, and their small son Bobby, left yesterday for Palmerston North, where they will in future reside. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Dell, of Raetihi, and their small son. are the guests of Mrs. James Glasgow, “Headlands,” Fordcll. A party of. nine American lady teachers, who are touring New Zealand, were in Wanganui yesterday for a short stay on their way to Wellington. Mrs. Eleanor Hughes, of St. Buryan, Cornwall, has been elected a member of the Royal Institute of Painters -in Water Colours, states a London correspondent. The eldest child of Mr. F. Waymouth, of Christchurch, she camo to England to study and settled in Cornwall 23 years ago. Her work is well known in New Zealand, and there are examples in the Christchurch, Wellington, and Wanganui galleries. Mrs. Hughes has exhibited at the Royal Academy for a number of years anil has two water-colours in the present exhibiiton. Mrs Ross Meikle is visiting Stratford, and is the guest of Mrs W. J. Polson. She is assisting with an exhibition and bride’s carnival organised in aid of the Presbyterian Church. Mrs. N. J. Crabbe, of Auckland, Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Crabbe, of Wanganui, and Miss V. Smith, of the Wanganui City Council staff, left yesterday by motor for a holiday in the Auckland and Waikato districts.
