OBITUARY

MR. PERCY WOTTON. (Contributed.) There passed away at Auckland, on July 10, a well-known settler of the Rangitikei district in his 64th. year— Mr. Percy Wotton. Born in Dawlish, Devonshire, the only son of the late Mr. Henry Wotton M.D. Lon. F.R.C.S. Edin; he was educated at Rossall School in the North of England. He came out to New Zealand at the age of 17 years, to learn farming and eventually took up land in Rangitikei Being a keen sport, he was whip of the Rangitikei hounds for many years, and schooled his own horses. Some of his favourite hunters were Tomtit, Yeast, Rossall, Fleetwood, Jack o’Lantern, Whimper, Thornton. Jack Snipe and Rainbow. From 1889 he was a well-known steeplechase rider and show winner. The late Mr. Wotton had been in failing health for some time and is survived by Mrs. Wotton and an adult family—his daughter Miss Winifred Wotton N.Z.R.N. (Wanganui), Mr. Cecil Wotton (To Awamutu), Messrs. H. W. and I A. Wotton (Wanganui), and one grandson, Henry Wotton (Te Awamutu).
