Losing his track on his way to North Lgmont from the Stratford Mountain House, a young man name Webster, a railway porter at Ouchunga, struck through tho bush for the open country below him yesterday. He eventually arrived trt Midhurst. His non-arrival al North Egmont caused fears as io his safety, an<i search parties were summoned from New Plymouth and Strut ford, when Mr. A. Haldane, caretaker of the Stratford House, learned of his arrival at Midburst in time to stop tho parties ifcfore thov left for the mouu tain. Mr. Webster was lucky in find ing his way through the dense bush. Had he been lost all night the intense cold would probably have killed him.
