CANADIAN BIRKSHIRES
BREED IN NEW ZEALAND. While Mr. A. D Anson, jf D.iyhsford, was in New Zealand with the party of Victorian farmers who made a tour of tho North and South Islands recently, ho was much impressed by the Canadian Berkshire pigs which are being bred here, reports the Australasian. They arc of great length and depth and not as short in the loin and leg as tho ordinary Berkshire. They can be crossed with the-Middle Yorkshire and British Black pigs. For bacon production Mr. Anson purchased a boar from Mr. J. A. Russell, of Palmerston North. Mr. Anson also purchased ten stud Southdown ewes and one ram.
