LAST WOOL SEASON

MARKED INCREASE IN SALES. REDUCER CARRY-OVER. At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Wool Brokers’ Association the president (Mr. A. E. Mabin) referred with satisfaction to the “most pleasing feature** of the Dominion sales during the 1932-33 season —namely, that 563,505 bales were sold as against 468,256 bales the previous season, an increase of 95,259 bales. This, together with the shipment of an unknown quantity of old wool, he thought, should reduce materially the carry-over of 210,000 bales of greasy wool on July 1 last. Tho salient features of the Now Zealand wool sales he summarised as under:

For the past seven seasons the quantities of wool sold and tho gross return and the average price realised per pound were as follows:—■

The average price at per bale for the past three seasons Yas £7 .13s fid per bale. For the 1929-30 season only the average was £l2 12s per bale; but for 1927-28 and the following year the average for both seasons was £22 16s 10J(l.
