MAN SEEKS A WIFE

‘•MUST HAVE LONG HAIR" A man walked into the Exeter Information Bureau a few weeks ago, “I want a wife and I thought you might be able to help me,” he said. The secretary was startled, but being used to strange requests, he masked his emotions. “Certainly, sir,” he said, “we will do what we can and let you know the result in a few days.” The man expressed his thanks. A few days later he called again and was told that tho Bureau had found two ladies who were willing to embark on matrimony. He asked to see them. He was given their addresses.

A day or two later the man re-ap-peared at the oflree. “I am afraid neither will do,” he said. “Both have short hair, and my wife must have hair so long that sho can sit on it.” Another search was made, but without success. So tho man thanked tho secretary for his co-operation, expressed his sorrow that no suitable bride was forthcoming, and departed. “You would bo surprised at the extraordinary requests that are made to us.” the secretary of the Bureau said. “People seem to regard the Information Bureau as a lost property office, an employment bureau, a matrimonial agency, an hotel register, and a creche. ’ ’
