WEATHER FORECAST
General Situation.—An intense anti-cyclono still covers most of the Tasman Sea and New Zealand, but barometers are falling over eastern Australia. Forecast.—Winds: Variable north of New Plymouth and Napier, with south-westerlies prevailing, elsewhere winds tending northerly and gradually freshening. Seas (N.Z. waters): Smooth to moderate, but rising later about Cook and Foveaux Straits. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate but freshening northerly winds, seas smooth to moderate but rising. Weather: Fine generally, temperatures cold but milder to-day. Showers are likely to develop to-day about Foveaux Strait and in parts uf Westland. The New Zealand Friends-’ St. John’s Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday. Bright sunshine, 7 hours 30 minutes. Rainfall, nil. Shade temperature, maximum 58 deg. Fahr., mini mu 36 deg.
