Who is Governor?

STRANGE AMERICAN TANGLE COMIC STATE POLITICS By T?lesrrai>h —Press Association— Received Oct. 14, 8.40 p.m. NEW YORK, Oct. 13. A message from Batonrouge states that as a result of an extraordinary climax to a lengthy battle for the State Democratic leadership between Huey Long, a picturesque political battler, and Paul Cyr, Louisiana is in the unique position of having perhaps two governors or perhaps none at all. Long has been Governor but also has been elected to the, United States Senate. Cyr, who was Lieutenant-Governor, has claimed the right to assume the, Governorship, asserting that Long is now unable to retain the, position. Long, however, has claimed that ho was Governor until the active Senate session commences. Long to-day left the city and Cyr took the oath of office as Governor. Long, hearing the news, rushed to tho scene and ordered tho State militia to prevent Cyr entering the, capital. He then appointed a new Lieutenant-Governor, arguing thjit Cyr had automatically forfeited that post and had reduced himself to the situation of holding no position whatever Cyr thereupon ordered tho troops to re tire. Tho militia commandant refused, claiming that h? would obey tho orders ho first received, but it is unknown who is able to revoke or change such orders, if anyone originally had the right to give them.
