NEW WAY TO WEAR FLOWERS

It is not very surprising to hear of the return to favour of the artificial flower as important accessories to dress. Not only have flowers come back in a host of fascinating colours and types, but many intriguing new places have been found to wear them, which is of no small value in the rejuvenation of the wardrobe. The floral mode has been introduced on evening scarves to match evening frocks and three groups of roses posed under the chin, a little to one side and the ends of the scarf thrown over the shoulder had a charming effect on one well cut, but perfectly plain, frock. On a dress of black velvet slighted inched on the corsage three large white flowers were used down the centre of the bodice, making a sharp contrast in black and white. Red flowers provided a strong contrasting note on a lovely frock of ivory lace. One small group was arranged at the left side of the waistline, while four or five flowers followed the neckline of the very short jaekette over the right shoulder. Some of the flowers bear no relation to any species in the botanical world, for there are countless varieties of fanciful blooms, and it is in their originality that much of their attraction is found. Some ara made of velvet, gauze, organdie, chiffon or taffeta. Gilded and silvered leaves and petals of coloured suede are among these new accessories. Flowers are being painted on stockings, and the woman who has a taste for this sort of thing can decorate her stockings with colours that are washable. These flowers must follow the tones and colours of other trimmings and should be scattered here and there on the instep and above the ankle.
