The Domains Committee recom mended:— (J) That the application of the Taihape Rugby Union for permission to make a charge of 2s for admission to the Oval Domain on July 22 or 23 on the occasion of the provincial match, Wanganui v. Waikato, be granted under the usual conditions and subject to authority being obtained from the Aiinister of Lands to make the charge of 2s on the day of the match. Cr. The Alayor: The Rugby Union seldom apply for permission to make a charge of 2s for a football match. (2) That the Commissioner of Crown Lands be advised that the Council desires to retain control of the whole of Section 62 of the scenic reserves including that portion at present encroached on by adjoining landholders, and that notices to fence on the correct survey lines where there arc no existing fences, and notices to repair existing fences where same are on the correct survey lines bo served on Alessrs Bosher, senr., Bosher, junr., and McColl. Referring to clause 2, Cr. Christensen said that if this recommendation were carried, a hardship might be inflicted upon Air McColl, who wouid thus be

compelled to fence a large strip of land. There was little fencing for Mr Bosher, senr., and none at all for Air Bosher, junr., but there was a great deal to be done by

Mr McColl and the speaker thought that the last-named should be obliged to fence subject to the directiou of the Council. Air AlcColl would thus be allowed a little latitude in regard to the matter. Cr. McDonald: According to the Fencing Act you can’t compel them to fence. The Alayor: The land is Crown Land and therefore does not conic under the Fencing Act. Cr. Butler: If we adopt the amendment the matter is left “in the air.” Are we going to direct these men tu fence or are we not? Cr. White: We are stipulating any particular time by which the fencing has to be done. These men will receive every consideration and will be treated with leniency. The amendment was then put to the meeting and lost. The recommendations were all adopted. Borough Leases. The following notice of motion standing in the names of the Alayor and Crs.
