EUCHKE PARTY. The second of a series of fortnightly euchre parties held by the Anglican Guild took place in the Oddfellows' Hall on Friday evening. The popularity of these evenings was emphasised by the presence of some seventy people and another very enjoyable evening wlis spent. After a very keen contest the gent’s prize was won by Air 8. Dickinson and the ladies’ prize by Airs Way mouth. RETURNED SOLDIERS. The annual meeting of the Manga-' wcka and District Returned Soldiers Union is to take place in the Seddon Alemorial rooms on Monday evening, June 29. The election of officers loi the ensuing year will take place and a full attendance of members and prospective members is expected. DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB. VALEDICTORY. A farewell was tendered Airs Guthrie, who is leaving the district, by the Blanket Society and the Alangaweka Bridge Club on Thursday last. Members of both societies met at the Guides’ Hail, xdrs Sweet presented Airs Guthrie with a silver tea pot and spoke of the regret all present felt at the departure of the guest. Airs Guthrie surtably replied. A dainty afternoon tea was partaken of and competitions were engaged in. MANGAWEKA LODGE 1.0.0. F. The usual fortnightly meeting of the 1.0.0. F., ALU., Lodge was held on June 18, when Bro. Jacoo, N.G., assisted by Sister Durham, V.G., presided over a fair attendance of members. Sick pay to Bro. Oulman was passed for payment. Airs Hall was duly initiated as a member of the Order. The main business was the installing of the new officers for the ensuing term. Bro. Billinghurst, acting as installing officer, installed Sister Durham, U.G., Bro. Stevson N.G., Bro. Daubney E.S. and Bro. Williams as warden. Bro. Jacob takes the place as G.AI. The Lodge was then closed in due form and retired for supper. Arrangements have been made for a special excursion train to Taihape on Wednesday evening, July I, when Lodge members will visit the Taihape Lodge. PERSONAL.

Air Farrow, who has been an inmate of the Taihape Hospital, has returned to his home. Mrs Mackenzie, of Alangarimu, is visiting Airs J. Boys. Airs Blake has returned from a short visit to Alarton. Mr C. Dalgety is visiting his father at Christchurch. Miss Jacob is visiting her parents.
