HUNTERVILLE

PLUNKET SOCIETY. The Hunterville branch of the Plunket Society met in the Plunket Building un Saturday. Those present were:—Afesdames Duncan. W. Wilson, W. G. Cunningham, A. G. Simpson. F. J. BuQiiuent, Grant Simpson ami L. J. Thompson. Apologies were received from Afesdames Fcrgusson, Bull, J. Howie and K. G. Dalziell. Thq nurse’s report for May was as follows:—Visits paid to homes 4. Vistors to rooms, babies 36; children 7; adults 36 new cases, enrolled 3. The general health of mothers and babies has been good. Mrs Butement’s report of the dance held on May 21 was very satisfactory, £l2 2s being cleared as a result. A vote of thanks was accorded Mrs Bute ment and her assistants for their much appreciated efforts on behalf of the Society and to all those who helped by their presence a* the dance or in any other way. The list of those who during the current year have contributed the sum of 5s and over is:—Mesdames Robb, Butement, Ellis, Klute, W. Simpson, R. G. Dalziell, Wm. Wilson, Cunningham, J. Bull, A. Bull, Grant Simpson, A. A. Green, Mair, L. Bull, Fergusson, Graham Wilson, Messrs Gregory and Sutton. A HAPPY EVENING. ANGLICAN SUNDAY SCHOOL SOCIAL. A very enjoyable evening was spent by the pupils of the Anglican Sunday School on Friday, when they were tendered their annual treat. Following a bounteous tea a happy time was spent with games interspersed by items by the children. Over seventy sat down to tea, visitors being present from all the country districts and up to 9 o’clock when the party broke up, everything went with , a swing, the Sunday school teachers | and parents ably supervised by Rev. C. R. Kreeft seeing that all had a good time. Items were rendered as follows: Rewa Hallwood, recitation, “Ves pers.” Fay Jones, recitation, “Sweep.” Joan Klute, recitation, “The Primrose. ‘ ’ Pat Gordon, recitation, “ Pound of Jumps.” Kezia Partridge, recitation, “Old Popcorn.” Margaret Hardy, recitation, “Two Twisty Men.” Joan Hammond, recitation, “Apple Dumpling.” Charade play “Encyclopaedia.” The players were:—Nada Partridge, Jessie Gordon, Hazel Clark (recitation), Elsie Floyd, Beverley Clark (recitation), Zczia Partridge. The Bogey Competition last week was won by Mrs Aidworth with 3 down. PUKEROA SPORTS ASSOCIATION. There was a good attendance at a meeting of the Pukeroa Sports Association on Saturday night. The president, Mr H. J. Tod, occupied the chair, and said the meeting was railed to decide “whether we hold a ball this year or not.” Personally, ho thought, even though things as ere not too good at present, it would nut improve matters by shutting down and cutting out their bit of enjoyment altogether. The ball had been a brilliant sucess in the past and was looked forward to as the event of the season. The ladies were mainly responsible for the good results attained and he knew they were heart and soul “after the ball.” He therefore moved “That we hold the ball as usual.” This was sec ended by Mr 11. Nation and carried by acclamation. It was decided to hold the ball on Friday, July 24, at Drysdale. The officials appointed were: -Direc tor of music, Mr 11. Nation M’s.C., Messrs J. D.
