Tho majority of the Indian Princes, who are members of the Chamber of Princes, generally approve of tho plan for a Federal Government for India. They include tho rulers of Hyderabad, Mysore, Travancorc, Kashmir, Gwalior, Jaiput, Baroda, and JodhI pur, the popultion of those States at the x last census being 40,40u,000 out of a totai of 80,838,000 in the Indian States. Of tho 52 other States of any importance, the majority, including Bikaner, favour federation. Even if smaller States refuse to join tho Federation it could be worked out with tho co-opertion of the eight men-
tioned and the majority of the next 50 States.
