MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB The local club sent teams to Ohakea on Wednesday night. The home team retained the McKelvie Cup with a margin of 9 points. McCormick .. .. .. 116 Total . . 907 MEDAL FOR DOG HERO In recognition of hjs sagacity in giving warning of tiro during the night, and thereby saving the lives of his owners, Roy, a three year-old Irish setter, belonging to Mr and Mrs Alex andcr Smith, of Stewarton, has been awarded the National Canine Defence League’s Bronze Medal. Roy was kennelled outside the house, and when the tiro broke out lie squeezed through a small opening into the scullery and made his way to his owners’ bedroom door. Aroused by Roy ’s barking and scratching, Mr and Mrs Smith awoke to find the house a roaring furnace, and escaped with only a few seconds to spare.
