RAETIHI
CROQUET CLUB. Mrs A, Windle presided over the annual meeting of the Raetihi Croquet Club when there were 16 members in attendance. The seventh annual report and balance sheet were adopted. The membership for the year totalled 29 active, five honorary, and four country members as compared with 35 and five last season. The club retains the Waimarino Shield and no challenge was put in for the King Country Cup. Visits were exchanged with Taumarunui, Ohakune and Ohakune Junction clubs. The greenkeeper is to be complimented on the condition of the greens during the season. The competitions resulted as follows: Club's championship, Mrs A. Jennings; runner-up, Mrs Sandford. B championship, Mrs Drury; runner-up, Mrs McDowell. A handicap, Mrs Sandford; runner-up, Mrs N. Brown. C competition, Mrs Gibbins; runner-up, Miss Levy. A and B handicap doubles: Mcsdames Rieper and Gibbins; runners-up, Mrs Legeg and Miss Levy. Most improved player: Mrs Stewart. It was agreed to adopt the two-life system in the championship events. The “C” championship resulted in a small number of entries and will cut out during the (taming season. Two resignations were accepted with regret. Players, not members, may play three games during the season on payment of Is per day. It was decided to hold a bridge afternoon in August to raise funds for the club. Trophies were donated by Mesdames N. Brown, F. Thomson li. Jennings, A. Windle, B. Gibbins and B. A. Drury. Votes of thanks were accorded Mr. Rieper fur typing the balance sheet; to Mr R. Civchetto for supplying milk and to the auditor, Mr C. U. F. Honore. The following were elected officebearers fur the ensuing year: President, Mrs F. Thomson; vice presidents, Mes darnes N. Brown, W. G. McDowell and D. P. Scarfe; secretary, Mrs IT. Rieper; treasurer, Mrs R. Jennings; committee: Mesdames G. Stewart, Henderson, If. Green, A. Windle, Russell, Gibbins and W. H. Sandford; captain, Mrs Windle; green superintendent. Mrs Henderson; hon. auditor, Mr C. U. F. Honore. GENERAL. The Raetihi Chamber of Commerce has decided to endeavour to arrange a “Cheerful Week’' for the last week in August.
