SUNSHINE CLUB bir,—When detailing activities of tho various organisations in connection with relict’ of distress caused by unemployment wo will be glad if you can find space for tho following. Tho Wanganui Sunshine Club was formed some months ago as a permanent organisation by women of the working class with the object of alleviating distress in this city. A keen and active membership is already active and many genuine cases have been assisted. A special feature of our working being the remodelling and making of warm clothes for children. A sewing bee is held weekly at the residence of the chairwoman (’phone 4165). A popular lady voting competition is now in progress ami the ladies concerned hope by their efforts to materially assist people who are facing a position unprecedented in the history of Wanganui. The Sunshine Club, while willing to co-operate with other organisations, prefers to retain its own identity intact and to maintain and extend the scope of its activities. It is the intention of this club to offer its services for Wanganui East so that applicants for clothing from that district may be referred first to this club for attention. J. E. PURNELL, Sec. of the Sunshine Club.
