An unusual story of a man who planned to steal money but changed Ins mind when he got his hands on it was told in the Police Court, when Robert Davidson, aged 29, barman, pleaded guilty to unlawfully entering tho Waverley Hotel with intent to commit a crime. Accused, who was formerly employed in the hotel, knew where the takings were kept and after hiding in the lounge he got into the bar early on Sunday morning. According to his statement to the police he then realised that it would be theft and suspicion would fall on the night porter, also that ho (accused) would only spend the money on drink. On leaving he was forced to take a pair of shoes belonging tu n guest. These he returned later. He was committed for sentence.
