LATE MR W. S. PENNY The funen.l of the late Mr W. S. Penny was attended by a large number from a very wide. area. About 80 cars followed to the Sanden cemetery. A short service was conducted at the Anglican Church. At the graveside the Rev. White (Bulls) conduct ' the service. The Alasonic service was also coducted. The speakers were Alessrs J. H. Perrett, R. Mackay, A. K. few, and J. E. Walker. The pall-bc-rrcrs at the house and church were Alessrs W. E. Pearce, A. Henson, C. Egli 'on, C. Evans, A. .II U and A. Thompson, iAt the cemetery Masonic brethren acted as pall-bearers, Alessrs A. K. Drew, F. Tostevin, H. Thompson. H. J. Fagan, C. E. Vile and J. 11. Perrett. The flag at the Sandon School was flown at half-mast as a mark of respect to the late Air W. S. Penny. During tho morning Air G. F. Francis, addressing the senior scholars, referred to Air Penny’s association with the school, and called on the children to stand up and observe two minutes’ | silence. I MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB The match arranged for Thursday night with the Miakca Club has been postponed until next week, on account of tho death of Air \V. S. Penny, who was one of tho officials of the club. TE KAWAU RUGBY SUB-UNION The following players have been selected to take part in a trial game to bo played at Oroua Downs to-day: Probable: Koya!, Gimblett, Moffatt (2), Scott, Goldfinch, Fuller, Staitc, Howard, Alger, Millard, Gust, Robinson, Harris and Beard. Possible: Alarsh, Dixor, Sanson, Poto, Drummond, Aloses, Tattle, Williams, Wereta, Cribb, Knight, Taylor, Glassford, Price, Hammond. Emergencies: Pearce, Lawlor, Cornwall, Eru and Scott.
