FARMERS’ UNION ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Mangaweka branch of the Farmers’ Union was held in Phillip’s Hall, Mangaweka, on Thursday evening. Air F. A. Nelson, organiser, address ed the meeting on the activities of the union, explaining what the union had done in the past and what it had to‘ do in the future. He emphasised the fact that the onus was on the individual farmer ot get behind the union and to back it to the last ditch on its policy. The election of officers resulted: President, Air C. Dalgety; vice-presid-ent, Mr A. Anderson; secretary and treasurer, Air T. Pairman; committee, Alessrs A. Morton, S. Lowry and C. E. Smith, with power to add to their number. The president and the organiser were authorised to meet the settlers of Ohingaiti and arrange for either the formation of a new branch or of a subbranch at Ohingaiti. The balancesheet showed a credit of £25 Jos 3d. Expenditure for the year was: Boys and Girls’ Agricultural Clubs £5 ss, earthquake fund £5 ss. Delegate to Provincial Executive is to be Mr C. Dalgety. To date 40 new members have joined the branch. Air C. E. Smith, retiring president, proposed a hearty vote of thanks to Mr C. Dalgety, who had practically carried the branch on his own back for the past four years. It was carried with acclamation. A vote of thanks to rhe retiring president and the organiser terminal cd the mooting.
