HAWERA “CHEER-UP” WEEK
CAMPAIGN ABANDONED SCHEME HAS MINORITY SUPPORT HAWERA, Alay 13. Owing to lack • f support in the busines community tho proposed “cheerup” week in Hawera, for which tentative arrangements had been made by the Hawera Retailers’ Assoliation, has been abandoned. Th) organiser, Mr John Hopkins, of Wellington, recently canvassed the town and from his inquiries ascertained that the majority of tradespeople did not favour the scheme, and that the financial support forthcoming would be insufficient to ensure the success ol a “cheer-up” campaign on the lines originally suggested.
