ESCAPE FROM BORSTAL
TWO YOUTHS SENTENCED FURTHER TERMS OF DETENTION TE AWAMUTU, May 13. The two youths, Herbert Williams and Bernard Nottingham, who escaped from Waikeria Borstal institute a few weeks ago, and secured a ear in an effort to get away from the district, were brought before Air Wyvern Wilson, S.M., at Te Awamucu, on charges of wrongful conversion of a car anti t..eft of wearing apparel. Both pleaded guilty, and were sentenced to two months’ imprisonment on the conversion charge and six months’ imprisonment for the theft of clothing. The sentences will be concurrent with the terms the youths are at present servin g. A few days ago Williams and Notting.am were dealt wi(h by justives ot the peace on charges of escaping from custody, and their terms of detention wore extended by 12 months. Both pleaded guiky. and admitted they had planned beforehand to make an effort to escape, although they admitted they had been very fairly treated at the institution.
