A Respected President. For several years now Mr T. Currie has filled the presidential chair on the Wanganui Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union and at yesterday’s annual meeting he was re-elected for n further term. Mt W. Morrison paid :i tribute to the never-flaging interest Mr Currie displayed in the welfare of the union and his fellow farmers. Mr Morrison reminded his hearers that A was not always what the union accom plished in the way of legislation that counted, but what- it prevented “the other fellow’’ from getting. The pro vincial presidents constituted the majority of the Dominion executive and they framed the policy of the union, 'the Dominion Secretary (Mr .1. Pow) was a very capable man and kept the Ministers supplied with the, farmers’ point of view on every subject of importance. Mr Morrison thought aMt - Currie the right man in the right place. Similar tributes to '.’r Currie’s ability ami enthusiasm were voiced by Messrs J. R. Franklin ami A. P. Melville and he was re-elected unopposed. He assured the meeting that he would do hi« Lest in the. ’nter.-sts of rhe union for a rurther term, though ho ha.l hoped n younger man would have, been coming forward to accept the reins of office.
