Business Man Speaks. Mr J. Williams thought that he could speak tor a number of the business people in Wanganui. It was the opinion Of a great number of them that one Of tho things that they would no*, like to see slip in Wanganui was the show. The public meeting was an axcellcut idea, he thought. If the business people knew that tho Agricultural Association was in such a state then would got behind it. People- coulu say what they liked, this was purely an agricultural community. He thought should should call a meeting, see if they could got some enthusiasm behind it, and put it on a proper basis. Just at the present time any associa lion that depended on voluntary contributions was in a rickety position, said Mr W. Green. He would support the chairman’s suggestion. Nobody in thc town nor in the country wanted 10 see the show go down. It was immaterial to whom the direct benefit eame, it was all the same a benefit to the whole community. The show, he thought, helped the people in the town to see how dependent they were on tho - farming community. Mr J. McL. Blair said that when the Association was faced with the same IF position in the past it had been said that it could not be revived. But that hud been done. There were the same potentialities to work on at the present time. They would have to wipe the debt aff their ground, rebudget fo r the future, start the show on its own basis and then it would be sink or swim* apart from the new grounds. Now was the lime to take the gloves off and not burke the position. It still had > chance. Motion Proposed. The chairman then proposed a mo tion that the Association call a general meeting of thc breeders of the district, farmers and the townspeople, see if it was wise to continue, and attempt to put the Show on a sound financial basis It was no good drugging on as thev bad done in the past, ho said. Mr R. Lilburn seconded, and the mo tion was carried unanimously. Mr Green proposed that'the Mayor be asked to take the chair. The suggestion was endorsed by the meeting. Mr Blair then proposed Mr R. Fa-ley as the president of the Association Mr Lilburn seconded the nomination. Mr Farley accepted, and took tho chair. A small committee was set up to po into the matter of the'date on which the public meeting would be held.
