THRILLING FIGHT ON TRAIN

CONVICTS’ BID FOR LIBERTY. LONDON, Nov. 18. Four convicts cn route to Dartmoor staged a thrilling fight with three warders on a train travelling at 50 miles an hour outside Salisbury. Two of the convicts prevailed upon the warders to unhandcuff them on the pretence that they wanted to go to the lavatory. When they reached the corridor both turned and attacked the warders. The others rushed out and a general flight incurred in the corridor to which the guard and soldier passengers wore attracted.

The guard managed to drag one convict from a window when he was about to leap. A second leaped through a window and was killed instantly. His body, frightfully mutilated, was found on the line.

Three warders finally overpowered the jthers.
