MONEY FOR AUSTRALIA
WHERE IS IT COMING FROM? THE BIG LOAN FROM AMERICA WALL STEET MEN SCEPTICAL [By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright] Received Nov. 2, 8.35 p.m. NEW YORK, Nov. I. Wall Street circles read with interest the London Daily Mail’s Sydney despatch printed here that American trading banks had offered the New South Wales Government 250,000,000 dollars at 64 per cent, but treated the item with considerable scepticism, particularly the phase in which the banks allegedly were ready to make a concession of a large loan for the right to do business in Australia. One of the leading financial figures of America informed the Australian Press Association that any talk of an American loan, no matter what size, would be premature until “Australia puts its financial house in order.” He further pointed out that there was little likelihood of the American trading banks entering upon any deal involving the granting of a loan for business conees sions in a nation racked by political dissension.
